Lululemon leggings are a necessary life investment – like car insurance or a laptop (I’m exaggerating, kind of)You’ve got to budget, save, and thoroughly research your athleisure options before splurging on a single $100+ pair. But as soon as your butt is cradled in the loving embrace of those cushy leggings, all buyer’s guilt is wiped from your mind, because those babies are soooo worth it.

But, like, why are they so expensive?! They’re really just leggings, right? Well, no, they’re actually super leggings. According to a Lululemon press rep, “At Lululemon, we have always and will continue to price our products based on a commitment to the value of fit, functionality, premium materials and detail, craftsmanship and technology.” Basically, these are the Holy Grail of leggings created with top-quality material, which yes, costs a little bit more than a basically-see-through Polyester/Spandex blend.

Don’t just take it from them, though. Search ‘Lululemon leggings’ on Twitter and you’ll see endless variations of this tweet, for example: “I bought two pairs of lululemon leggings and i don’t regret it one bit these things feel like i’m not wearing pants and i look like a SNACK 🍟.” They speak only facts, y’all.

So now that you’re all caught up on price – which ones should you buy? Well, we talked to Lululemon super fans and employees. We also tapped Abby Chan, MS, RDN, RYT, co-owner of EVOLVE Flagstaff in Flagstaff, Arizona, and Sarah Randall, a certified personal trainer and yoga instructor, who shared their take on their favorite pairs. Plus, I tried a few (ok, a LOT of) pairs myself, to pluck the top 10 best leggings from their website. Shop them all, ahead.

Oh, and ICYMI, Lululemon does have a sale section and it’s always bumpin’. Shop hella discounts here. Or, if you’re looking for some lower-cost, but still super-soft dupes, discover the best Lululemon legging alternatives here.

Best Lululemon Leggings

Best OverallAlign High-Rise Pant 25″

  • Perfect for low-impact activities or lounging around
  • Made with super-soft Lycra fabric

  • Material can be too delicate for sweaty workouts
  • Prone to pilling if worn during high-intensity workouts

You know how you’ve got categories of leggings? There are the leggings you run outside in, the leggings you run inside in, the leggings you sleep in, and then the dressy, wear-as-pants leggings you wear to class. The Align Pant will be your top pick for all of the above. They’re the perfect pair of wear-everywhere leggings you’ve been searching for your entire life – the kind you put on and say “Ok, now I get why people pay $100 for these.”

These are my personal favorites (seriously, I have like eight pairs), because they’re Lululemon‘s softest design. They feel so light on your skin, it’s almost like wearing a cloud. Lycra is woven into the fabric, which means they won’t stretch out no matter how many times you wear them and they feel buttery soft to the touch. “I literally live in these. I love them for teaching yoga [and] lounging around,” Chan says. “They are available in a variety of different lengths and sizes so that they are available for all bodies.”

Aligns are meant for low-impact activities, like yoga or, you know, not moving from your couch for an entire season of Never Have I Ever. The $98 price tag is 100% worth it, but if you’re looking to save, you can shop certain colors on sale for $69.

Best Leggings With PocketsAlign High Rise Pant with Pockets 25″

  • Spacious POCKETS (did we mention that already?)
  • Buttery soft
  • Tend to pill easily
  • The release I’d been waiting for since the moment I put on my first pair of Lululemon leggings: ALIGNS. WITH. POCKETS. The gods of athleisure answered our prayers, modifying the bestselling style with roomy side pockets. And when I say ‘pockets,’ I mean the real fit-your-phone-and-then-some pockets that womens’ fashion generally lacks. Wearers agreed in the reviews: “I vow not to buy anymore without the thigh pockets,” one customer wrote.

3

Reader Favorite Wunder Under High-Rise Tight 25″

  • Cooling, breathable fabric
  • Tend to roll down easily
  • Only available in one length

High rise leggings are the best leggings – this is not a debate and please, do not @ me. Wunder Under leggings hit perfectly at the waist for a super flattering shape. Because of the high cut, the transition from tights to skin is completely seamless, which means zero elastic lines under your shirt.

If you like the cooling effect of workout leggings, these are a great pick, thanks to their Luxtreme fabric. Compared to the Align Pant, these leggings feel sleeker on the body (more like workout leggings), but are still comfy enough for all-day wear. “The material is soft but sleek and they are great for workout out or running errands,” one customer noted in the reviews.

P.S. these are almost out of stock, so grab a pair while they last!ADVERTISEMENT – CONTINUE READING BELOWhttps://7576508546e1ba802fa94ba3c4cd97ed.safeframe.googlesyndication.com/safeframe/1-0-38/html/container.html

  • Drop-in side pockets
  • Made with Lululemon’s fastest-drying fabric, Everlux
  • Tend to run small

If Aligns are the high-comfort pants you lounge in, Invigorate Leggings are the high-comfort ones you work out in. “TO DIE FOR!!!,” as one customer reviewed. They serve up a silky smooth, cool feel on the inside and a velvety touch on the outside. The fabric is cushy and satisfyingly thick, so you’ll never have an accidental-see-through-butt situation. With extra compression, they hold up against intense workouts.

These tights are specifically formulated for training, so they emphasize stretch and Lululemon’s fastest moisture-wicking technology. Honestly, though, these are worth it for the phone pockets alone.

  • Drawstring cord for tailored comfort
  • Drop-in side and back pockets

  • Not many color options

If you haven’t heard of these workout tights before, it’s because they’re a special online exclusive only available at Lululemon.com. At $118, they’re a bit more pricey than some of the brand’s other options, but that’s because they’re high-quality workout leggings made for dedicated athletes. The thick, Luxtreme fabric offers a full-coverage fit, with a smooth, cool feel. No matter how hard you push yourself, you’ll never get overheated in these tights.

The All the Right Places Pant fully lives up to its name, with flattering seams that support and uplift in allll the right places, but also keep your muscles stabilized. “I love the lack of seam down the front, and the side seams produce a slimming effect that gets me compliments every time I wear it,” one customer emphasized in reviews.

Wunder Under Leggings are great for low-impact workouts, like yoga or weight-lifting, but if you’re looking for a tight that can take on sprints and spin class, their sister leggings are it. You get all the softness of the Wunder, with compression that has reviewers raving. “I wore them for a SoulCycle class and they [held] up fantastic with minimal visible sweat!,” one individual wrote.

The Wunder Train will keep you feeling compact, but not so much that they will chafe your knee pits (you know that happens). “Even though the Wunder Trains are great for compression and feel snug against your skin, they also allow for full range of movement,” Randall adds.7Best Cooling LeggingsFast and Free High-Rise Tight 25″

Cold or hot weather it always feels and looks amazing,” one customer reviewed.

“They are silky smooth, perfectly stretchy, and have handy pockets in the waistband, as well as side pockets if you’re on the go, or need snacks for long adventures,” Chan adds. “I love running, skiing, and lifting in them.” If you’re looking for a slick liquid legging you can go hard in, add this pair to your cart now.

Swift Speed leggings are specifically designed for running, made with a sweat-wicking, breathable, oh-so-stretchy Luxtreme fabric. Convenient drop-in side pockets and a zippered back compartment allow you to easily store your phone, keys, or even a mid-run, energy-boosting snack. The material is ultra smooth and cool to the touch, making these the perfect warm-weather legging option.

Reviewers rave over their fit, with one customer commenting, “If you are looking for leggings that will not fall down at all when running, these are the best! They stay right above my belly button and I did not have to touch them once on a 5 mile run.”

Randall echoed the same sentiment: “What I like about these pants is they have a little rib at the top which ensures that they won’t slip down. I wouldn’t do yoga in these — they just aren’t soft enough for me — but they’d be great for any cardio or strength-based movement!”

9

Most LightweightInStill High-Rise Tight 25″

  • Back pocket for storage
  • Made with SmoothCover, Lululemon’s most lightweight fabric
  • More compression and support than Aligns

Crafted with SmoothCover, which is Lululemon’s proprietary second-skin, super lightweight fabric, the Instill is perfect for pulling off even the most challenging yoga poses. But they’re still extremely breathable and moisture-wicking, so don’t worry if you break a major sweat.

Customers love that these boast the buttery softness of the Align, but provide a bit more compression. “The lines are wildly flattering, supportive, and offer more coverage than the classic Align,” Chan says. “This makes them great for all body shapes and sizes so that you can feel confident moving in them.”

10

Best Flared LeggingGroove Super-High-Rise Flared Pant Nulu

  • Super soft and weightless
  • Back waistband pocket for storage
  • Flattering flare from knee to hem
  • Can be too high-rise or long for those who are shorter

Yoga pants are the latest mid-2000s trend making a comeback, and the Groove Flared Pant is the style you need to *immediately* add to cart. It’s important to note that the leggings are very high rise, measuring 32.5 inches in length, which some customers say is perfect for tall girls. “Love the shaping high waist and the flared leg provides nice contour shape,” one person commented.

The Groove is made with Lululemon’s lightweight Nulu fabric, and is ideal for a low-impact workout or just lounging around the house. If you’re headed out, go purse-free, thanks to the legging’s waistband pocket that can hold your card and keys.
